Paul Hutchison: Ex-county bowler named Jersey coach
Former left arm pace bowler Paul Hutchison has been appointed as Jersey's new interim Director of Cricket and men's Head Coach.
The ex-Yorkshire, Sussex and Middlesex man will start next month and replaces the departing Neil MacRae who steps down after a decade to become the new Netherlands women's coach.
Hutchison brings with him international coaching experience, having worked with Denmark and Sweden, and as a bowling consultant coach with the West Indies.
His first task with Jersey's men will be to lead their preparations for the ICC T20 Word Cup Europe Qualifiers, in Germany in July. The former England 'A' bowler will also oversee the island's women’s programme including the hiring of a new Head Coach to replace Lee Meloy, who recently became Jersey's Head of Cricket Operations.
Sarah Gomersall, Jersey Cricket CEO, said: "It is an exciting time for Jersey cricket as Paul joins us at the start of a new competition cycle in both the men and women’s game.
"Winning the County Championship as a player, and as a coach in Vitality Blast T20 and County Championship winning sides, Paul has a valuable mix of high-performance experience and knowledge of our level of competition. It was a competitive recruitment process which is a good reflection on our cricket, and we wish Paul every success in the role."
Earlier this week, Jersey named a 13-man squad for their upcoming T20 series against Spain at La Manga. Skipper Chuggy Perchard will lead a youthful side including youngsters Toby Britton, Jack Kemp and George Richardson.
